I learned that one has to be more curious and ask a lot of question that relates in order to know more. Researches has to include a lot of legitimate sources as well. I also learned how it's not easy to research and do sociology because it has to be a quality research or one person is not legit.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12676516826630536370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5912129842976027525.post-33824573764027875622013-02-14T21:33:00.457-06:002013-02-14T21:33:00.457-06:00Its great how Venkatesh was able to gain so much r...Its great how Venkatesh was able to gain so much respect from a gang that many people fear of. This just shows that although these people do illegal things they are very open to talking to people and expressing what they are all aboutAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5912129842976027525.post-9914264120031412192013-02-14T15:42:51.091-06:002013-02-14T15:42:51.091-06:00Watched the video on YouTube.. I think the persistence that was encouraged by his relentless curiosity he showed was very admirable.ngoldst3https://www.blogger.com/profile/17799238571792678578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5912129842976027525.post-92184801570745794942013-02-12T13:39:13.141-06:002013-02-12T13:39:13.141-06:00In the NPR article, Venkatesh states "I thoug... In the NPR article, Venkatesh states "I thought I was coming in there to be the expert and I ended up being humbled practically every day." I think that this notes an important merit of qualitative data over quantitative data. It shows that, by pushing one out of their comfort zone, immersion fosters the open-mindedness necessary to learn about other cultures. ngoldst3https://www.blogger.com/profile/17799238571792678578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5912129842976027525.post-29692026116690146042010-09-13T07:12:02.789-05:002010-09-13T07:12:02.789-05:00I think that Venkatesh was so brave while conducti...I think that Venkatesh was so brave while conducting this research. Even though they teased him for his survey, he kept going back and trying different ways to try and learn these people's lifestyle. I loved the reading! I thought that it was very interesting! When I go to the city, I never really think about the surrounding areas, and end up at the touristy parts of the city, never the areas where J.T. lived and where any gang activity is apparent. This reading has sort of made me more aware of what is also going on in the city, stuff that you don't just see everyday when downtown.Callie Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13016305815421586690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5912129842976027525.post-52859094626612127752010-09-09T19:05:26.197-05:002010-09-09T19:05:26.197-05:00Mr Salituro, I enjoyed the reading and the clip of...Mr Salituro, I enjoyed the reading and the clip of the author so much.
